The College Experience for Men of Color is the only book on the market with research-based, culturally-relevant content and activities that speak directly to a broad cross-section of men of color enrolled in college.
This text, “keeps it real,” as the saying goes, and has the courage to address pressing issues facing black men today. It includes profiles written by successful students and working professionals who come from a variety of backgrounds to provide insight into handling college challenges from a black male’s perspective. Each unit begins with a selection of black history to open discussion about people and events that have affected the black experience in America. Activities reinforce critical topics of each unit (ie. – time management, learning styles, study skills) to encourage men of color to create relationships that take advantage of campus resources, to become involved and proactive about success, and to navigate barriers that prevent them from getting support.
